Tāmaki Makaurau, you showed up and showed out! Rain or shine! It was beyond euphoric to show up as uri and dance, celebrate, and ground with you all as we honoured our kuīni and elders at Out of the Gutter on Saturday 28 February 2026. Throughout February this year, we had over 230 events across the city, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for our communities for the rest of the year. Stay tuned for more photos and documentations from Out of the Gutter and other 2026 Auckland Pride festivities.
Kuīni Lounge was our dedicated place for our kuīni and elders to land, lounge, and connect with the girlies and fellow icons in a space that allows the Pride family to manaaki, centre, acknowledge them as a sound presence in our collective movements.
Take a walk down memory lane with a promenade of archival images celebrating our communities over the past 40 years since Homosexual Law Reform in 1986.
With support from:
Kawe Mahara, The Charlotte Museum & Nicole Duval, Auckland Council Heritage Collection, Peter Nowland, and Melanie Church.
Saw someone you recognise? Have a story connected to the images?

Hosted by the legendary Drag performer Elibra Fleur, Parade of Heroes invited our community members to raid their dress-up boxes, closets and garages for costumes, adornments, regalia, and set pieces that conjure the spirit of Pride and Resistance within them and showcase them on our community fashion runway.
More photos from Parade of Heroes can be found here. Please feel free to share these photos with your loved ones, and tag us @aucklandpride so we can reshare them on socials 🧡 If you would like any of the photos to be removed from our database, DM us on our social media or email kiaora@aucklandpride.org.nz with the photo ID/names 🫶
